ADDITIONAL TIME

SUBSTANTIALIMPAIRMENT

 Additional Time (25%) requires formal assessment of the candidate and proof of a substantial impairment. To confirm a substantial impairment, the assessment must confirm the candidate has at least:

  1. TWO below average standardised scores of 84 or less OR
  2. ONE below average score of 84 or less AND one low average standardised score (85-89) 
  3. TWO low average standardised scores (85-89) in relation to TWO different areas of speed of working 

COMPUTER READER/READER

  A formal assessment is no longer required to confirm access to a Reader.
A short, concise file note and evidence of 'normal way of working' is now required to confirm the Access Arrangement of Reader. A reader cannot be used in examinations where reading is being assessed e.g. in Section A of the GCSE English Language papers.  

SCRIBE/SPEECH TECHNOLOGY

SUBSTANTIAL IMPAIRMENT

   Use of a Scribe requires formal assessment of the candidate and proof of a substantial impairment. To confirm a substantial impairment, the assessment must confirm the candidate has at least:

  1. ONE below average standardised spelling accuracy score (a standardised score of 84 or less) with unrecognisable spelling attempts OR
  2. ONE below average score for writing speed (a standardises score of 84 or less)

WORD PROCESSOR/VOICE ACTIVATED SOFTWARE

   Use of a Word Processor or Voice Activated Software must reflect the candidate's 'normal way of working' within the examination centre.
